July 1st Kwan Se Um Bosal Chanting Practice
1-July-2025
On July 1st, A one-day Kwan Se Um Bosal chanting practice was held at Hae Su Zen Center. That day was the anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to China, and was also a day for zen students to return to their true nature. We continuously chanted the name of Kwan Se Um Bosal with one-mind while doing walking meditation, sitting meditation and bowing.
Zen Master Dae Kwan and Bon Sun Sunim JDPS guided everyone with one pointedness in chanting the name of the bodhisattva while using the method of walking meditation that brings a smile to even under the feet. With every step is a print on the floor bringing the mind back to the present moment and connecting to the rapture of calmness and peace within our mind. We also learnt from Kwan Se Um Bosal who saves suffering beings upon hearing the cries, by listening to sound of their own, of others and of the moktak, to return to the clarity of the mind and to learn to listen compassionately to other people’s needs.
With joy in our practice and a heart of gratitude, participants dedicated the merits from our practice to China, Hong Kong and all citizens, hoping everyone would work together and create a harmonious and vibrant city, wishing for national stability, favorable weather and world peace.
