Study Visit Group from Chilbulam Hermitage

During the recent Lunar New Year, Su Bong Zen Monastery warmly welcomed a group of distinguished visitors from afar — a delegation led by Yae Jin Sunim, Abbot of Chilbulam Hermitage (Seven Buddhas Hermitage) in Gyeongju, Korea, together with members of the monastic sangha and local primary and secondary school students, who came to Hong Kong for a study and practice visit .

In addition to engaging in practice at Luk Wu on Lantau Island and in the meditation hall, the young participants also took part in a sea-release ceremony. During the ritual, various marine beings that had been captured — including fish, crabs, clams, and octopus — were guided to take refuge in the Three Jewels before being released back into the ocean .

Zen Master Dae Kwan offered a Dharma talk, explaining that life release not only rescues aquatic beings from harm, but also allows participants to release the countless “beings” within their own hearts — returning to the clarity and purity of their true nature.

May all beings constantly abide in joy and ease, be freed from suffering and attain happiness, and may all their endeavors unfold without obstruction.
